A few shots from this evening of HZ-SKI departing Southend this evening after some light maintenance and parking. Only a couple of years ago 727 movements were a relatively frequent occurrence at Southend – there have been far fewer recently – when HZ-SKI arrived it was the first 727 to arrive for 18 months. Here’s some shots of the departure to Heathrow in considerably better conditions than the arrival – and I was lucky the sun.

And blasting off to Heathrow – lots of noise and vibration!

As always – I hope these of interest.

Read quite a lot of reviews about its handling from pilots. Always thought it was a rocket to fly, but some say not.

The proportions were just right, something the Trident sadly lost when it was scaled down.

One of the prettiest aircraft ever built. Beautiful.

G-ORSA? Not listed with the CAA?
Maybe not officially registered yet
Take a look at some of the airlines currently being tested BA 787, A.380 for example, they are not listed on G-INFO
Only when it’s delivered and I suspect the paperwork is finally signed does it become official and then it will appear.
Old registrations that were issued but not taken up are not listed either, or at least I’ve not yet found one that was.

I remember sitting outside at the old B-52 club having a drink.
We’d had an unusually dry spell of weather, and the grass had recently been cut.
A 727 (DHL ?) started doing engine runs near the end of 06.
A strange brown fog started drifting across the airport 🙂

Certainly! And we know have the last production 727 on the UK register -G-OSRA – an oil spill response aircraft under conversion at Lasham.

Superb photos – the first shot really demonstrates the beautiful lines of the 727.
