Hi All,
Some of you know who I am and Grey Matter no I’m not going to start a Flame War 😀
So here is the Question with the first flight of Airbus new aircraft, which US carrier do you see buying this or for that fact the Boeing 787 when it comes out.
The reason I ask this is everyday in my local Fishwrap I read another story on how either Delta,US Airways. United ect. ect. are on the verge of filing Chapter 11. Can anyone really see a US Carrier buying one of these aircraft.
Please no bickering over what is better Boeing or Airbus they both have their good and bad points. Personally I think the Us Gov. should have step in and Stop the MD sale to Boeing so at least their was some more choice out their.
Over to the rest of you folks. 🙂

I would, frankly, be astonished if AA, UA and DL do not order the 787 at some point.
Provided they stay in business long enough, of course.

I think AA would find the 787 as a very effective aircraft in its fleet. Since AA doesent go for the jumbos and has been a productive operator of the 757/767 and the 777, the 787 should fit in well in there structure.

CO has already placed orders for the 787. NW has already stated it will follow, but first has some paperwork to sort out. Another US airline that ordered 787s is Primaris, a newly set-up full-service airline. In the future I think AA, DL and UA may follow (in that order). But that will be a few more years. First they have to sort out their financial mess. In particular UA.
The A380 will probably not be ordered by US passenger airlines. There simply is not enough demand for them. Only NW might use them on select Asian routes. However there are not enough of those routes to warrant buying enough A380s to make it profitable. They will stick with 747s and perhaps more modern derivatives. US cargo airlines will definately take the A380. FedEx and UPS have already ordered some.
US customers:
AIRBUS A380
DHL 10+10
FedEx 10+10
BOEING B787
Continental 10
Northwest (to be announced, around 15-18)
Primaris 20+15
