Hi all,
Just a quick heads up for those of you who don’t know about this (thanks, Tom!) On Monday 26th July BA are operating a 747 on the NCL-LHR route as part of NCL’s 75th anniversary celebrations and it’s only around £30 one way. It doesn’t seem to be massively publicised so I was pretty stunned when I found out! Just thought I’d mention it in case anyone else missed it, a UK domestic flight on a 747 is too good a chance to miss! 😀

Founds this on another Website detailing the Schdule For Monday!
You are invited to celebrate Newcastle International Airport’s
75th Anniversary on Monday 26th July 2010
Newcastle Airport and business partners have created a very special itinerary for the anniversary day. The public can watch all of the activity from a dedicated viewing area which will be open from 10am at Samson Aviation. We recommend viewing from 10.30am – 1.30pm to ensure the main highlights of the day are not missed! These include:
10.30am British Airways Hot Air Balloon tethered on the grass area adjacent the freight village
10.35am Arrival of a KLM B737 donning the original colour scheme from the 1960’s
11.10am Arrival of British Airways 747
12.00pm Arrival of a De Havilland Dragon Rapide to commemorate the exact time the airfield opened in 1935
12.05pm Arrival of an Emirates B777
12.15pm BA 747 departs
1.05pm KLM B737 departs
1.35pm Emirates B777 departs
2.00pm Pleasure flights on the Dragon Rapide commence with invited guests
Public car parking is provided from 8.00am and the airfield will return to normal operations from 4.00pm.
If any one is interested I belive that the EK 777 will be A6-EBD the Same Aircraft that Diverted in Back in May from GLA

The airshow arrivals have started to turn up – Just had a SAR Bell 412 land.
Followed by two F-16s, a Navy Sea King, and a fly-past from a Tonka GR4. Someone’s left their fantastic Piper Aztec A outside too..
……. and john Whaley’s Hunter

Flights going to be Enconmy only from what i hear! I suggest you Photographers that are flying on the Return flight down to LHR have your camera ready when your boarding the aircraft! If things come together as there planned too there could be some very interesting photo opertunites available!

I doubt if it will be too heavy if full as there will be very little fuel carried
