BBC tells us :
Dr Who Christmas special features East Kirkby’s Just Jane
Actor Alexander Armstrong can be seen flying Just Jane, in the Christmas special
Scenes from the Dr Who Christmas special have been filmed inside a Lancaster bomber based in Lincolnshire.
Filming took place on board Just Jane, which is based at East Kirkby Aviation Heritage Centre near Horncastle.
The episode, The Doctor, The Widow and The Wardrobe, features actor Alexander Armstrong flying the wartime plane.
The programme tells the story of a family evacuated to Devon, where they enter a magical wintry world after receiving a mysterious present.
The trailer, which features the Avro Lancaster Bomber NX611, can be seen on the BBC Dr Who website .

QI fact..
Tom Baker was part of the crew in the BBC radio broadcast of the Len Deighton book Bomber which I understand was based on Lancaster missions.
He was indeed, it was repeated just a few weeks ago. Though he was only part of the ‘crew’ in broadcast terms – not Lancaster terms; He was the narrator,
His voice-over could be said to be a bit overly-portentous, but certainly a good effort.
One of the better Doctors, but nowhere close to Mr Eccleston.
No thanks to the Jelly Babies. Post-Christmas diet looms.

Anything that helps JJ get closer to being airbourne is fine with me !

 They both had an impossible act to follow, if I may be so bold.
Admittedly a few generations back.
Would you like Jelly Baby Moggy? 😀
+1
The new doctors are fine but they are just copies of what came before.

Hang on a tick, do you mean to say that William Hartnell doesn’t play Doctor Who these days? I know that it’s a long time since I last watched a broadcast, but it seems that there may have been a few changes in the meantime. Is the tardis still around or does the doctor time travel in an iPhone now?

I always rate Eccleston as the best ever, Tennant was ok, but he had an impossible act to follow.

We all know it’s Just Jane.
Shame the producer Marcus Wilson did not gen up on her.

In fact I have to say that the seires was great when Christopher Eccleston and especially David Tennent played the Doctor, but since then, this current guy is lame and dull, and his sidekicks are damned annoying, especially Amy bloody pond

I stopped watching pretty soon after the new guy started and they introduced the dreadful ginger Scottish tart.
This special wasn’t bad though. (Mostly as the pond-life didn’t feature much )

David Tennent for me. As an aside I fully support the efforts that the Panton Bros put into keeping Just Jane in the condition she is in, not pristine by any means, but when they start those 4 Merlins up:) Also a few yrs ago I took my then 12 yrs old Grandson there, and they let him roam around inside her, to such an extent, he iis now aircraft crazy, and also we live near the NATO/ RAF bobing range, and we both go down there frequently when the range is in use, and with a decent pair of binoculars you can sometimes see the hits on the ship target.

I hope, like man, he does it as his RAF Officer character from the Armstrong & Miller Show.
Where he, like, says stuff – totally Random.

I hope it’s not as naff an episode as the one with the Spitfires. In fact I have to say that the seires was great when Christopher Eccleston and especially David Tennent played the Doctor, but since then, this current guy is lame and dull, and his sidekicks are damned annoying, especially Amy bloody pond and Riversong. And the scriptwriting has been terrible. All the talk in the recent series of the doctor going to die, I was assuming the BBC was going to cancel the show for good. They need to bring back their old writers and get a new bunch of actors.
As for Just Jane, it will be good to see this aeroplane appear on our screens.

She appeared in ‘Land Girls’ too recently taxying during a simulated airfield attack with several explosions and some pretty ropey CGI Heinkels!
Either way this and the Doctor Who brings funding in and might hopefully bring a few viewers to East Kirkby in 2012. . .

Hi,
Next thing you will be telling me is Dr Who isn’t real….
Probably a nice cash injection for NX611, in these hard economic times.
cheers

I bet the Panton Brothers are pleased to have “Just Jane” in full flying condition again, they have been trying long enough.;)

The only thing in Dr Who for ‘grown-ups’ is Amy Pond! 😉

Set in 1941, didn’t the Lancaster come into service in 1942?
Oh well, it’s not exactly a documentary!!!
After Spitfires in Space (and mk IXs in 1940) a year out on their Lancs can be forgiven!”
