I know its been asked before somwhere in the past.
I’m wondering if she’s actully going to fly in the next few years.
And what her current status is at the moment?

There has been no contact from the Peter Jackson/Dambusters team for many years. We are not expecting any approach from them as it sounds as though they are planning on using CGI and model Lancasters for the film.
🙁

With no likelihood of there being one in the future ?

You just need a dc3 to help with training. Auntie Kath at Coventry would make a great training captain!

On the plus side though, if there are three airworthy, then it’s one more to share the costs if they need to get batches of parts made.
Are there enough non airworthy Lancasters in good enough condition to source some spares from?

There is currently absolutely no link between NX611 and the Dambusters film.

I know things are slightly different, but getting her back in the air is one thing, keeping her there is quite another.
As we’ve seen with the Vulcan, it’s hugely popular wherever it goes, but getting money in has been a constant battle. Just like the Vulcan, spare parts can be hard to find for Lancasters as well. Hasn’t the BBMF one been grounded on occasion whilst spares are sourced?

We know that the Hobbit trilogy put the Dambusters on hold for three plus years but could these stirrings of getting NX911 airworthy be connected?

That would certainly make sense, as well as bringing in a nice income towards Just Jane’s restoration
I wonder which airfield they will transform into Scampton for filming ?
In Wikiwhatsit it states …. “Weta Workshop is making the models and special effects for the film and has
made 10 life size Lancaster bombers”

Thank you for buying the cheese!
The cheese is also available from the butchers shop in Spilsby.
While you’re there buying cheese, it’s worth taking a look at the new memorial up on the old airfield site.
It’s quite impressive.

My brother in law is a volunteer guide at Bletchley Park. He was recently showing a couple the Colossus code breaker and in passing they said they were in the UK for the Hobbit film launch. The gentleman said that he had recently purchased an Enigma machine and…also that he had ten mock up Lancasters in store at home.
My brother in law did not know who he was. 🙂

Just Jane crew
I would imagine there are a few ex Nimrod, and therefore quite possibly ex Shack aircrew that would be willing to give up the odd weekend to take the helm of Just Jane!

I suggest you wind your neck in…
No, I suggest (like the others have also suggested above) that you you wind yours in.
Mike has a CV in vintage aviation that you’d give your eye teeth for.
You might learn something if you listened to him.
As to JJ, there seems to be very mixed feelings locally to EK about her flying.
Many I suspect rather wish she’d stay on the ground–doing what she does brilliantly. That being keeping the memory of the men alive to a wide audience.
That way, she stays intact for generations to come–and view her.

Presumably the more recent BBMF guys could get Mike Chatterton current again, as he’s not actually flown a Lanc for a long time now!

Will the Martin gun turret be installed in the new year?

Are edd straw and mike chadderton still with the east kirkby crew and if so would they be in a position to involved in the flying?
Mike and Ed are still with us and going well, they would be invited to be two of the main pilots for the Lancaster along with Mike Leckey.

In Canada there is. Also, I’m sure the BBMF would be able to assist in some way.

Probably in Canada but its a bit of a commute!

NX611 would be flown by Civilian pilots, not RAF aircrew.
