Read an old magazine today with a reference to a Brigand wreck on this remote island – so remote that I havn’t managed to locate it ! Anyone know or heard of the place?

My Apologies, I was looking at the wrong island.
Now had a good look at the proper one and, as mentioned by Flat 12×2, can’t see any real trace of an airstrip.

David,
I have had a look at what I think is Kamaran Island using Google Earth. It seems to be pretty flat, mostly sandy and, at its highest point, around 20 ft amsl. There does not appear to be any sign of an airfield left on it.
If you enter:
14 36 43 96N
42 54 47 47E
in Google, that should take you there. It’s around 179NM northwest of Aden.
Your coordinates are off, so you must have the wrong island
Try 15°20’24.87″N 42°36’0.95″E
The island is approx 10 x 4 miles ,right island but still no signs of an airfield.
If you google the island there are pics of the old airport & modern tourist pics.

That’s the island! The wreckage is described as being layed out on the island near an airstrip for some kind of inspection at the time.

There are undoubtedly more Brigand wrecks yet to be found in the jungle of Peninsular Malaysia.
Could the magazine report quoted here be refering to 8 Sqn’s VS856 which was lost on a Navex in the Red Sea on 6 December 1952? That, apparently, suffered an engine failure. The undercarriage would not lock down and collapsed on landing. Location given as Kamaran Island. This seems to have been an airstrip on an island off the west coast of Yemen. Doesn’t appear that remote though.
I can’t find any other Brigand incident that might fit this scenario.

The article was in an old Aeroplane Monthly which pictured a wreck of a Brigand and Buckmaster on the dump in Aden . It made reference to the Brigand remains and described the Island as being too remote for anyone to bother scrapping the remains.
I will dig further!

The wreck of Brigand RH755 was identified in 2000 in the Malaysian jungle, but I am not aware of any others, although there are rumours of other Brigand wrecks in the area. Do you have any more details from the magazine? Which magazine was it?
