I cant beleive thay have scraped this KC-97!! .
I remember seeing it a LBG in the late 80’s. My first 97 after waiting many years to see one, narrowly missing them in service.
Saw them still in (civil) service at Miami in 1990, just before the Connies arrived one day :D.
Would have been nice to see one preserved in the UK as they served for a long time here.

Looks like deliberate scrapping to me. Yet another “preserved” aircraft gone and what a shame that is. I remember seeing it in Le Bourget in December 1988.

53-0280 has been with the Musee Aeronautique de Nancy for years, it’s sad it now ends up like this.

I don’t think it ever was a nightclub though. It was originally bought to be modified into a Super Guppy for Airbu, but this never happened as the Belouga (that broken-neck fat-back Airbus) was already under development. The KC-97 first was parked outside at the Le Bourget museum, but in the early 1990s it went to Nancy.

Except the nightclub pic is dated 14/12/2003 and the scrapping pix are dated 26/1/2004…

I don’t think it was fire The way i see it it’s in the progress of scrapping look at the big chunks of metal lying there.
What waste of a beatifull machine.
The site says it was in use as nightclub (in France??)
Although this aircraft is no exception vintage arliners and others are still undere threat of scrapping and vandalism.
