Keenair

This small Liverpool based airline has taken over Jersey Europeans (as they were)routes from Blackpool to the Isle of Man and on to Belfast City. They also operate a twice weekly service between Liverpool and Cork. They use Embraer Bandeirante for these routes and you can find out more from their web site http://www.keenair.co.uk

RE: Keenair

I understand that Emerald Airways have the largest fleet anywhere of HS 748. They used them a few years ago to operate a scheduled service LPL-IOM and for a very short time LPL-WAT. The IOM route operated for quite a while. Thewy offered really good fares, and boosted passengers on that route. Manx didnt like it, as LPL-IOM is there biggest route, they made life quite tuff for them and Emerald gave up. Since then they have reverted back to a mainly cargo airline.

RE: Keenair

I had never heard of emrauld before until ne day i was up GCI and i saw a very strange aircraft land. After checking the registrations out in my book i found it out to be a HS-748 of emrauld,i had never heard of that aircraft before!Later found out they are operating a BOU-JER-GCI cargo flight on behalve of Channel Express after the Fokker 27 normally used to serve the islands had an accident when it landed at JER,apparentley its wing hit the runway! It is still stored at JER(G-CEXC i think)after around 6 months.

RE: Keenair

It was quite sudden when BE pulled out, no announcment or anything. A Blackpool based carried took over the route for a while, their name escapes me for the moment, something like “saphire” or “soverign” can’t quite remember. Anyway they went out of business, which is wy Keenair took over the route I guess.

Keenair are very new to scheduled services, they were mainly concerned with private charters etc. They also do mail contracts I beleive.

Yes I think you are right, Emerald may operate some freight flights out of BLK. They were once called Janes Aviation and were based in BLK. They then moved to LPL and altered their name to Emerald because of the fact they were heavily involved with flights to Ireland. Emerald also have quite a large presence at Coventry.

RE: Keenair

It can’t of been too long ago that BE Pulled out because last winter 2 flights to NM had to divert there because the weather was so bad at EGNT and NJ. There was no1 from servisair at humberside and i heard them sat soemthing about they had a ground contract there.

Also the Keenair EMB-110’s had there maintenance done at EGNM by Multiflight. They had a contract with Lambson Aviation (formally operated a/c under the name Knight Air) which specialised in the EMB-110’s

RE: Keenair

Brymon use a dash 8 up to BLK on their charters from Jersey in the summer, the flights will also operate this year which suprises me as i found out that many of BRY’s charters were coming to JER half empty(Really does say something about the C.I’s tourism buisness!!)
Doesn’t BLK have an IOM cargo route with Emrauld using the HS-748?Also,when did BE pull out of the Belfast city route?

RE: Keenair

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 22-01-02 AT 05:48 PM (GMT)]Yes I think that is right. They started offering a Cork flight from Liverpool around spring last year. It operates on Fridays and Sundays only. They had talked about adding a Monday rotation, however this has not happened as yet. Possibly because they have taken over the Irish Sea route from Blackpool. I think they are now the only scheduled operator out of BLK. Things were different there once with JEA, Manx and Loganair operating out of there. Before that there was a company called Spacegrand. Some charter flights are offered to Spannish destinations. The new terminal at BLK isn’t bad, big improvement on the old war-time facility before.
