How about it? The Ark Royal could find a worldwide market as an offshore platform for viewing historic aircraft flying supersonically as part of a privately run airshow organisation.
Wouldn’t it be great to see historic vintage jets operating safely, of course, offshore, and therefore outside the bounds of legislation of land based airfields.
It’s mobility could be an asset too, given enough passengers (in, say, converted hangar space) it could be an extraordinary luxury liner, taking passengers for cruises, with arranged airshows at various locations around the world.
Many passenger liners are much bigger, and better designed, but I feel sure there would be a market for it. The flight deck could even be used to host preserved Harriers and visiting/passengers helicopters.
Perhaps the economic climate isn’t right for now, but in a few years things should change for the better.
“The Virgin Ark Royal” anyone?

An “….extraordinary luxury liner”?
I take it you have never been on an aircraft carrier, then?
Have you read your PM’s?

1. Very unusual or remarkable.
One word for it:D
Definitely a fantastic idea, a sort of a Radio Caroline of the air show world.
But I’m afraid the Ark Royal will go the same way as the last one.

It would be nice to see a UK version of New York’s USS Intrepid museum.
