Kemble airshow

Went to Kemble for the first time on sunday, and apart from the cloud it was an excellent experience. Straight in with no hold ups was a good start, and first stop was to admire one of the resident Canberra PR.9’s. I was subsequently given the opportunity to sit in her (complete with live bang seats) and given a talk about her by Bamel, many thanks Clive. Also had the pleasure to meet TT18 ‘Timbo’ and Roger on the stall.
Very nice static although i would like to have seen the Brittania, and better still seen her do a run. Did’nt take any photos of the flying as was too busy watching, what with so many planes i either had’nt seen or not seen for a while. Really enjoyed the whole display and especially all the classic jets.. superb. But for me the star just had to be the Sea Vixen, even standing still and running with all that noise and power she is simply awesome. And a great display too from Matt Whitfield in i believe only his second display in Foxy lady, well done guys.!

Kemble ,20th June

I realise this is a bit late but…..!This was my first air display since the late 1980s and I enjoyed it immensly seeing so many fast jets.I was with a group of ex 8 sqdn guys from 1961 vintage and it was really great to talk about our time on the Hunters in Aden. The highlight for me was the Typhoon ,this is an incredible machine.Anyway this is just to say if you were not there go next year!!

I missed last years Kemble due to work commitments. I live local so have been going to the airdays since the start. They can be a bit simular each year at times with Delta Jets dominating… This years Show has to be the best for overall content and diversity. A very big well done to all the airshow team.:):):):)

Actually, I’ve been a bit surprised at how few of Delta Jets aircraft have been participating at Kemble shows recently. Early jets are my particular preference. I’d kill for a chance to see a Javelin, or a Lightning in UK airspace.

I too had a great time at the Kemble Airshow, but I have sent an email to events@kemble.com, which I would appreciate a response too, if anyone from the events organisation team is reading this.

The flying was both excellent and safe all day (20th), and am now really looking forward to their Battle of Britain day in September, just a few days before my birthday. But I won’t be buying tickets until I know which of the two days will have the planes I want to see.

Once I’ve processed my photos I’ll put them in the Airshows topic.

Was great to meet you, always a pleasure showing people around the aircraft – she is steadily making progress to a return to ground running condition, the owners at Midair are very supportive of our project so maybe next year we might be able to give XH134 over at Delta some competition!

Certainly a great show – a real classic jet haven and I have to agree, the Sea Vixen and NF Meatbox were absolute stars of the show. Who’d have though a straight wing Derwent powered crate could perfrom like that – wingtip vortice contrails from a Meteor – outstanding!! 😀
