I see from the Kemble Airshow website that the Vulcan will only be attending on the Sunday.
This is a big disappointment for those of us that bought our tickets in advance. It’s too late to change them now, and a friend has already got the day of work so it’s simply not practical.
:mad::mad:
There’s always something that sets me off, it seems.
Still, the rest of the very extensive lineup looks fantastic, with a huge attendance of visiting and displaying aircraft.

Well XH558 made it safely over the pond and after a quick flyby at EHGR Gilze-Rijen Airbase and a Quick Demo rehearsal she safely landed at EHVK Volkel Airbase…
Thnx for letting us enjoy her :).. she will not be forgotten 😀

Sorry for the digression. It just annoys me when people whinge because they won’t see a particular aircraft, or can’t get to a particular show. In the OP’s case he’s getting to at least three shows but the first two he’s already moaned about and the second isn’t till this weekend. Just be grateful for what you do get to see, enjoy it, cherish it, because for whatever reason it be might be the last you see, maybe not for ever but at least for a considerable time.

I fully understand your thoughts Kev, And feel lucky for every show I get to and every act or display I see, I make a point of watching everything that displays at a show I get to in case its my only chance to see, last chance to see etc, And I feel grateful for what I see. I also understand the frustration RobAnt is feeling as he wanted to see the Vulcan there.
Life has a funny way of arranging things, Myself I hope to go the Kemble never been before and its my wish to do there and Old Walden this year which I also have never visited. I have to be realistic I have had a year and a bit of major stomach problems and now I am having Knee problems which will probably mean far less standing in fields for me in the future, So I am going to try and enjoy what I can, And take the camera I bought everywhere possible.
I hope you get to another show sometime soon Kev and maybe see you there sometime.

Hi Kev
I certainly buy into that train of thought. We were at Perth airshow at the start of the month and although rather wet still enjoyed it as it was our first time there. I do not envy you the job that you have with your Dad and Uncle thats for sure but do know what its like caring for someone.
Last conversation I had with you regards mobility you were in a wheelchair. Is this still the same or had you got better then worse again?

Vulcan has departed!

Wel kev35,
I think it’s remarkable that you are still able to see the things in perspective and see that the good times in life are infact the small things that other people don’t seem to see.. I give you credit for that :)…
i hope to post a wonderfull set of pics soon for you and all the Keypublishing users that see the things like Kev does…

Scott.
I don’t mind saying. I have mobility problems and am going through a down spell with it again and I am sole carer for both my Father and Uncle, one of whom is in a wheelchair whilst the other has Parkinson’s and dementia. Actually, I was sat in the front room last night looking into the Stirling loss on which I posted above. I overheard a snippet of conversation….
Dad – “Do you know where Parkinson lives?”
Uncle – “Who?”
Dad – “Parkinson. It seems I’ve got his disease and I’d like to give it back to the bu**er.”
Uncle – “Better see if you can find Arthur Itis then because I’ve got a bone or two to pick with him!”

Departure today at noon from RAF Lyneham to Volkel, I am lead to believe.
By: Merlin3945 - 17th June 2009 at 09:04
I haven’t been to one since October 2007 and the way things are going right now I can’t see a future in which I will get to one.
Hi Kev,
Not wanting to pry into your personal life with what might be a personal question but one does have to beg the question.
How come.
Dont answer if the question is too personal.

Well i can understand the frustration… I will attend the the Volkel airshow for 3 days (1 spottersday tomorrow and the rest is a public airshow)… It is a privilege for me to witness this elegant deltashaped wonder, because i didn’t hope to see it in my life… and now im going to see it for 3 days…
I hope that she will make some beautifull passes for you guys at Kemble and i sincerly hope that the weather is going to be perfect for you…
XH558 pics will be posted here on this forum by me from Volkel…

I’m hoping to get to Kemble on the sunday (with one eye on the weather).. and looking forward to seeing some early jets. Just out of curiosity does anyone know if there are usually any aeroboot stalls here as this will be my first visit.?!
By: Vulcan903 - 17th June 2009 at 07:13
Yes the Vulcan could land at Kemble with a brake chute. The aircraft however has to land within it’s own limits unassisted.
So if the chute did not deploy for what ever reason, it could be a problemtte.
Looks like it’s going to be a very warm weekend. Looking forward to Kemble on Sunday 😎

Yeah, I know. It’s just that you wait two years for something to happen, and it all comes at once.
You also have to realise that living down here in Plymouth, the logistics are such, and the weather was such, that last year it was impossible to travel to a show she actually attended. And I have contributed a lot to the project.
I know why she’s not at Kemble, it’s because she’s at Vokel in the Netherlands, displaying there and I don’t think the runway at Kemble is long enough, is it? So she can’t leave Vokel, and land at Kemble after that display.
I’ll catch her next month at Yeovilton.
Sorry to hear you haven’t been able to go to a show for a couple of years, Kev. I can understand your frustration. I won’t be able to go to Cosford again, it’s proving to be beyond my capabilities.
I’m really looking forward to seeing the Vulcan at Volkel on friday. I have never seen a flying Vulcan before (as far as I remember). It’s great that the aircraft isn’t restricted tot operate in Britain alone. Hope the crew will be able to find Volkel (because it’s Volkel and not Vokel).
By: David Burke - 16th June 2009 at 20:05
I should imagine the runway at Kemble is more than capable of taking a Vulcan with brake chute.
By: FiltonFlyer - 16th June 2009 at 19:50
The Vulcans attendance was only confirmed a week or so ago, so when you bought your ticket, it wasn’t down for Saturday or Sunday. The fact that it is appearing on Sunday is a bonus – view it like that.
By: kev35 - 16th June 2009 at 19:15
So three airshows? Aren’t you the lucky one. Yet still you’ll moan. It was too hot, too wet, too cold, too cloudy. I’ve been waiting years to see things that I will probably now never get to see, but I try to do it without moaning and just enjoy the little victories.
Today’s was walking around ASDA without falling over once.

Rob.
Stop moaning. You’re going aren’t you? Tickets are always bought on the proviso that things may change.
You’re going to two airshows and you still moan. I haven’t been to one since October 2007 and the way things are going right now I can’t see a future in which I will get to one. Life’s like that sometimes.
