Kemble Petition

Hi all,
As some of you may be aware, the local council are in the process of looking at withdrawing the licence to operate aircraft out of Kemble Airfield. This would be a travesty as it is a superb airfield for general aviation, warbirds and anything and every type that flies. It is one of the finest airfields for not only pilots but enthusiasts also, offering some of the best up close and personal vantage points to enjoy aviation (and a great restaurant). The airshow that is organised every year is without a doubt a great day out with visitors (aircraft) attending from as far a field as New Zealand. Please take a moment to go to the following website and append your name to the petition to save this great airfield.

Many thanks

Si

and of course we will lose the airshow, a double blow for the west mid to south area as cosford airshow is also likely to go wif as rumoured the base becomes non-RAF

I signed the petition earlier whilst involved with exchanging points of view with exmpa. I would like to thank that gentleman for adding urgency to my action there.:D

Petition signed, I sometimes fly with a chap that commutes between Kemble and Fowlmere in an Archer, and know that there is not much else around there.

It is worth pointing out that Kemble is as close to the South West as it gets for an active airfield that can support ALL kinds of Vintage Aircraft, including, and especially, Jets.

St Mawgan has the potential, but is closing. Culdrose and Yeovilton are active Naval Air Stations. I don’t know what the status of Chivenor is, but I know they used to fly Hunters there.

I could only imagine that, to maintain the South Western audience, they would need to go to Plymouth! I don’t know whether that would be acceptable, as the Midlands, East & South East England would probably miss out.

Naturally, as far as I’m concerned they’d be very welcome here in Plymouth – we desperately need more aviation related activities down here in my opinion.

Kemble is well situated, with an enormous catchment area, potential and little competition.
