🙂 Cracking day at Kemble today, Delta Jets flew 12 sorties (6 each for WV318 & WV372) also Janie and Big Beautiful Doll joined in the activities with each of them flying 6 sorties each culminating in a truly amazing formation by all 4 of them. There were also 2 Bulldogs with teeth courtesy of Ultimate High a Stearman and a Gulfstream 3 that departed on the airway heading back direct to Bangor, Maine, USA.
Just to add some spice, Hunter XL577 is due to take to the air next week on it’s first post restoration flight. First time for nearly 25 years that this aircraft will have air under it’s wings and a tribute to the engineers and volunteers at Delta Jets for a remarkable restoration that started 5 years ago. 😀

Looks like the AV8 has changed hands and all the cute girls have left!
Does that mean the service will be improving? It was awfully slow the last time I was there.

Didn’t appear to be much else going on, couple of light aircraft and that was about it.
I didn’t stay long after the Hunter returned as I could see a few heavies coming out of Brize. By the time I got over there, nowt going on – typical!
Anna – no sign of any of their aircraft, I was hoping they would be about, but alas no.
There was a Harvard parked up on the other side on the runway in US Navy colours with a number 40 on it – anyone know whose it is? Couldn’t get a decent photo of it unfortunately.

Was having a bimble around the Cotswolds today and decided to go over to Kemble, just to see if anything was going on.
Had I have been five minutes later I would have missed ‘372 leaving, so I decided to hang around for half an hour, and , yep, she came back.
Set me up nicely for the weekend 🙂 😉 🙂
were the Ultimate High Guys Around 😉 Anna 😉

From the looks of it the event was in a bid to keep Esso in business for a bit longer.
By: ApacheFan - 3rd August 2004 at 14:25
But what was it all for?
By: Yak 11 Fan - 3rd August 2004 at 11:36
Shame I missed it, had a call at 8 on Thursday night asking if I wanted to go, struggled a bit with the decision but really had to go to work instead, at least I got to see the Mustang fly back over Bury St Edmunds at 5.30 though.
Looks like it was a great day, thanks for posting the pics Glen.

Why?
What was all the flying in aid of? Did I miss some event or was this just a day of flying for the hell of it!
Cheers

Is that a Fokker Friendship in the background of your take-off shots Glen? Which one and what’s it doing there?
By: dees01 - 2nd August 2004 at 09:27
Greta photos Glen, just one correction, we flew 14 Hunter sorties not 12! Damn hard work, but worth it just to see that formation. All in all, a good day!
By the way, what was that website I should be looking at?
By: stringbag - 30th July 2004 at 23:25
No, they have taste 😀 😉
By: Glen - 30th July 2004 at 23:16
I don’t think ‘372’s owners would go for that some how, Mark

Excellent photos Glen 🙂
If only Delta would re-spray WV372 back into FRADU colours!
Hang on, what am I saying, a return to battleship grey? What am I saying 😉
Congratulations to all at Delta for XL577’s restoration.
