Kev and Andrew debate Ireland

Yes I know. No criticism intended. 🙂

Moggy

Why not? Wasn’t it Ireland’s self styled aviation correspondent who spent one afternoon racing, in his own words, to be the first to photograph the scene of a fatal accident and then gleefully boasted to everyone how he had gotten his photo on the BBC? And not one thought or sentiment for the poor ****** who died.

Deeply offended…

Ok let me post a few thing, no need to step on anybodys feet by these comments….

no.1 – northern ireland is apart of great britain, which in my eyes and alot of other peoples eyes makes us completly different from irleand… also if we were ireland, would we not have the same currency, flags and whatever else… i am deeply offended by this comment, AND WOULD ALSO LIKE A FULL APOLOGY. (i also think that is a bit on the sectarian)

no.2 – the pilot, who was flying the aircraft in this pic http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/northern_ireland/4620716.stm later survived!

one more thing,

people on this forum would need to stop arguing and fighting like girls, i dont know wat this argument started over, at the end of the day this is a public forum. Anyone could be reading these posts and think, Northern Ireland must be full of thugs, and hooligans, When it is completly opposite. I think some people are jealous of wat other people get aswell. I know if i had the chance to get a photograph on the news and tv, i would send it in and i dont care what anyone thinks of me saying that!

Now im my eyes EVERYONE needs to wise up , we loose enought fourm members over fights, now lets stick together instead of bitching!

Many Thanks

Rab

Moggy.

It can’t continue on Commercial because you pulled it to GD.

Nope, I split it. The existing thread is still there on Commercial.

Moggy.

It can’t continue on Commercial because you pulled ot to GD. My comment re Ireland was a direct answer to andrews allusion and illusion of allegiance to the Crown.

Sorry Kev.

I must have been misled by…

Just to drag the thread completely off topic

I’ve got no particular problem with the aviation parts continuing on Commercial, though the rights and wrongs of ‘ambulance chasing’ probably apply as much on GA / Historic as on there.

As the title says, this thread is for the discussion you opened with the words

It may be Northern Ireland to you Andrew but isn’t there the small matter of a sizeable part of the population who would prefer it not to be?

Moggy.

Why GD? Now, I’m not too sure, but I think the crash of an aeroplane and the subsequent reporting of it in extremely gleeful tones by Northern Ireland’s self styled John Pilger, would be considered an aviation oriented topic. Surely the Code of Conduct hasn’t changed that much?

How many people here consider it acceptable to gloat that you have gotten the scoop photo of a crashed aircraft and got it posted on the BBC website? The pilot was injured, and in the absence of evidence to the contrary I believe he died as a result of his injuries. (I am prepared to be corrected on this.) This is precisely what andrewm did. And received NO censure from KEY as a result of his frankly despicable action.

Sensationalist reporting does nothing to further the commercial, military or general aviation communities. Perhaps our Northern Ireland correspondent should consider his actions in future.

A split of off-topic posts from a CA discussion so that the debate can continue without getting in the way of aviation topics.

I may be wrong, but I thought the gentleman in the accident you depict died later of his injuries?

Moggy.

Fair comment.

Kev he didnt die and if my photo was disrespectful I would have not have posted it and the BBC would not have used it in their online or televised news. BTW its Northern Ireland not Ireland – I would call that an insult and against 5) of Code of Conduct.:)

EDIThttp://www.jetphotos.net/viewphoto.php?id=450994 – Anyone think the above photo is disrespectful?

Why not?

Probably ‘cos I’m new here. Not aware of past history like this.

In this particular case I can only judge on what’s posted, which was a straight lift from the over-dramatic BBC headline.
