dark light

Keystone Kops – they ain't.

After to-day’s news, are any of the readers of this forum still possessed of the belief that the Police are our protectors and servants ?

My newspaper tells me that the policeman accused of the manslaughter of a newsvendor and subsequently cleared had a history of criminal assault. At that particular time he resorted to time honoured practise and was retired from the force with some kind of mental health complaint thus escaping legal sanctions

Time, is a great healer. He was at some later date, declared fit and well and was re-employed by the Police.

Judged by results it seems extremely difficult if not impossible to secure a conviction against a member of the Police Force accused of a serious offence. Why do you think this is ? Offences for which members of the public would receive condign sentences appear not to affect the ‘Teflon’ force.

Quite certainly, the video of the alleged assault was fairly clear to my eye and perhaps others of a discerning nature. So, what went wrong in Court?

I gather that this is not quite rhe end of the story and further enquiries are due to be made about the suitability of this person to continue as an officer of the law.

the thing is i am also used to working in those situations ( except we weren’t issued with the police equipment ) it is bl**dy obvious that that guy was no threat !! yet even after realising thier error not one of the scumbags in uniform had the balls to help the lad up again !!

Andy in Beds.

I’m surprised that you didn’t bet £500 ! I’m even more surprised that you found someone to take your bet.

Well I’m happy with the result.
I had a £5.00 bet with someone that he’d get off (with someone who works for the Police) and I spent the fiver on a box of Tea bags in Morrison’s.
That’s the Tea supply for the workshop sorted for the next month anyway.

Let’s face it, the filf always get off–is any really surprised by this??

our nice new station is built that the only realistic way to get to it is by car ( i’m a long term resident and had to think for a few minuites of the walking route !!)

the old police station was convenient and easy to walk to even for an outsider !!

strange that !!

but that is the whole point when i worked as a street warden i personaly went between 12 lads that wanted to give one a kicking

i managed to stop it with no weapons to protect myself or protective clothing

the whole point is you have to meet a standard and police forces are woefuly short at preasant

if you don’t want to go in for whatever reason hand your uniform in on the way to the job centre

because members of the public are watching that want property protecting and themselves

by the way the situation with the 12 lads against 1 was difused by stepping in and talking to the community

something that is sadly lacking in todays forces i cannot for the life of me remember the last time i saw a police officer walking in our town

but wr have a loveley brand new police station with them driving everywhere and they always seem to make it out of the station for the football

Garyw, that’s exactly what I was thinking. Police constables are damned if they do, and damned if they don’t.
I’m looking forward to my future career.. 😀

Alternatively though, those here so ‘anti-police’ can of course do their bit by joining their local constabulary as a Special Constable, work their way up the chain of command and then.. change things as they see fit! …….

Are you SERIOUS?

You accuse the cops of being thugs then accuse them when they FOLLOW ORDERS issued by SMT’s to stand back and allow the riots to happen.

The SMT’s were so scared of another tomlinson that they didn’t want to get heavy.

So, what would you be saying if they had waded in with truncheons and spray and people had been hurt/killed?

You people really want the Police to be thugs when it suits you. Incredible.

Next time you’re in a queue of traffic, bitching about the delay stopping you from getting home for your tea, and pass a traffic pile-up, rubbernecking as you go, just give a thought (what a waste of time that idea is) to whose job it is to clean the blood and broken cars off the road,

that’d be the fire brigade , paramedics and recovery vehicle drivers then !!

When another nutter goes berserk with a gun, or samurai sword, will we see you waiting in line to go out, and help take him off the streets? No, of course not; it’s so much easier to carp, from the comfort of a nice chair, in front of a computer screen.

aye fair enough but in the main incidents recently many were killed and the gunmen had topped themselves before you got there !! and lets not forget standing back and doing nothing in the london riots !!

Edgar Brooks,
You’re right, for most it’s a case of just jump in and moan. Most don’t give time to think about the sights that officers see that the public, thankfully, do not have to. The fact that there are killers, rapists, child abusers etc convicted of their crimes because officers have arrested them, is forgotten about.
The government cuts the number of officers, yet still expect officers from various regions, including mine, to make their way down to London for the Olympics due to G4S stuffing up and therefore each region will be down on numbers more so, but whatever happens in that regard will only have the public blame the police, rather than G4S or the government with its beloved cuts.

What a sobering and shameful statistic ! This should be copied to every MP in the country and especially to Theresa May.

Funny (well, no it’s rather sad, and sickening) to see how a thread about a verdict, in a court case, has turned into a series of the usual suspects, lining up to stab every police officer in the back, and turn the knife, as well.
Next time you’re in a queue of traffic, bitching about the delay stopping you from getting home for your tea, and pass a traffic pile-up, rubbernecking as you go, just give a thought (what a waste of time that idea is) to whose job it is to clean the blood and broken cars off the road, and then (if you can) think of the poor sod, whose job it will be to go to somebody’s home, and tell them that a loved one has been killed.
When another nutter goes berserk with a gun, or samurai sword, will we see you waiting in line to go out, and help take him off the streets? No, of course not; it’s so much easier to carp, from the comfort of a nice chair, in front of a computer screen.

i was curteous to the extreeme up to about 15 yrs ago when the police disregarded solving crime and working with communities to being about milking everyday people out of hard earned cash

i’ll end with a market traders feedback to myself when i worked as a humble town warden turning up to a theft case

” thank god it is your lot that has turned up , the police are worse than useless and probably wouldn’t turn up atall !!! “

unfortunately we were unable to physicaly catch the thief but 3/4 of an hour later the property was returned to the stall holder !!

job done !

getting out of a van 3 hours after a crime and jotting down a couple of things ( if your lucky ) isn’t working

Right, I see – How many police officers do you see each day? how many terrorists?

Still, it doesn’t matter whats said, the Police are evil, they’d rather hit you then help you and I’ll bet none of you have ever called the Police over something, of course not you all think they are violent thugs.

I’m done with this thread. I sincerely hope none of you ever need the Police but I do know that if you do they won’t care about your hatred of them, they will be professional and do their job. I just hope that you can be just as courteous to them.
