Orca at Flahdur SeaWorld has killed its trainer. Apparently this very Whale has got previous for killing Trainers, in 1991 it killed the Trainer in SeaLand in Canada.
There is a 3rd incident of death with this Whale, but that one looks like a man that tried to have sex with it came off worst.
Clue, it’s a wild beasty. Never trust it.
Sympathy to the gals family of course.

After killing three people, I’m surprised the Orca isn’t on the FBI’s top 10 list.
I hear it has hired O.J.’s defense lawyers.
Those idiots from Whale Wars will probably be defense witnesses saying the harpooning of the non-endangered whales in the Pacific have traumatized the animal.
If it can get the trial in Judge Ito’s court, I think it will walk (swim).
In the meantime, I might have a tuna sandwich for lunch.

I believe that wars and nature will sort this out before long.
Global warning? Nucleur war? It is only a matter of time!

Plenty of women left in the world, not enough Orcas.
I totally agree. Wildlife always come off worst in the long run when humans are involved – just look at how few tigers and white sharks there are left these days.
Humans are one species we don’t have to worry about… there are always plenty more no matter how many personal and mass tragedies befall us. There are more people alive in India at this very moment, than the entire population of the Earth in the year 1700.
More and more well-known scientists, natural historians, and the so-called ‘elite’ classes are beginning to voice the (once taboo) opinion that the world’s population is spiralling out of control, and will eventually need to be culled, if our food resources are to remain viable.
The common concensus is that 90% will have to be culled, to ensure the future of the rest. Just how they would go about it, they don’t say, but we would also have to do it all again in another 300 years.
Personally, I think that either Eastern or Western genetic scientists will come up with a disease that affects every other human except those of their own genetic makeup, and then they will migrate into the void that’s left…
How’s that for straying off the thread?;)

As a kid I loved the Zoo visits. I have taken my kids to the Zoo and they have been just as happy as I was. I don’t like them now, but at least they do see/smell and sometimes touch the animals. At a later time I always make sure my kids understand (Via Nat Geo.) what the animal would prefer, and how it lives / eats etc.

Killer whales in captivity often develop pathologies, such as the dorsal fin collapse seen in 60–90% of captive males. Captive killer whales have vastly reduced life expectancies, on average only living into their 20s, though there are examples of killer whales living longer, including several over 30 years old, and two captive orcas (Corky II and Lolita) are in their mid-40s. In the wild, female killer whales can live to be 70–80 years old (though this is a rare occurrence, and 50 years is the average lifespan expected for those who survive infancy), while males can live to be 50–60 years old (while 30 years is the average).[109] The captive environment usually bears little resemblance to their wild habitat, and the social groups that the killer whales are put into are foreign to those found in the wild.[110] Critics claim that captive life is stressful due to small tanks, false social groupings and chemically altered water. Captive killer whales occasionally act aggressively towards themselves, their tankmates, or humans, which critics say is a result of stress. Unlike wild killer whales, captives have attacked and even killed people such as their handlers or pool intruders,[111][112] with nearly two dozen attacks since the 1970s.[113][114] Tilikum, an orca, has allegedly been involved in three fatalities. Should have gone to specsavers:D
I never had sex in Specsavers and when I asked about it at lunchtime having seen your post they got very defensive….
As for the whale, as people have said, its called a “wild” animal for a reason….(who remembers Gerald ? “Wild, I was absolutely livid”) and if they are prodded, poked and trained, they can react.

If you confine a huge animal, bred to roam the oceans into a little concrete pool it is almost certainly going to feel more than a little peed off with its life. Who would blame it for getting grouchy once in a while? I would, even if there were nice ladies in bikinis coming to pat me on the head and throw me a herring from time to time.
Plenty of women left in the world, not enough Orcas.
So sad for the girl, her friends and her relation, but in the great scheme of things no big deal.

Trouble with being around intelligent large animals like Orcas and Elephants, is that you’ll never know what pissed them off at that particular moment – anybody can have a bad day…
Have to agree, I have a cat that is like it! bites like a dog.

How is it someone as evidently unWelsh as you can constantly try to rip Welsh people to pieces?!
