That guy should be given the key to the city! Unlike 1549’s crew, he had no training anywhere near to that of the US Airways crew but successfully landed the plane with a bare knowledge of flying and by keeping his cool. Saving 3 lives is as good as saving 150 lives. Hats off to the controllers and all involved as well.

It’s worth signing up for a free account. There are lots of real pilot stories on there – the majority of which are general aviation related – but they are pretty fascinating.

I was listening to this only on Monday, albeit a slightly different version, which had been put together by AOPA (Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association). Their version also has animations and interviews with the pilot/passenger (Doug White), and he explains what went on.
