Kingfisher to launch operations to Sydney
23-Nov-2007
Kingfisher Airlines reportedly plans to launch four times weekly service from India to Sydney from Oct-08, subject to government approval. The carrier plans to increase frequency to daily in the future.
Meanwhile, Kingfisher has requested that Airbus advance delivery of its five A380s scheduled for 2011-12 to the end of 2009. Kingfisher is the only Indian customer for the A380, and plans to operate the aircraft to the US and on other long haul routes.

I would think IT will deploy A330s on this route. Or if they plan to apply direct to SYD..maybe the A345s.

It was suggested Indian airlines will use newly acquired A330’s on the route…any ideas what sort of equipment Kingfisher will deploy??

Is this instead of Indian Airlines services to Australia.. or will there be two Indian carriers on this route???
Completely different… Kingfisher now holds 46% stake in Indian loco giant Air Deccan. Practicaly saving Deccan from wrapping up its operations from big losses. Now IT will use Deccan’s 5 year experience to operate itself out of India.
I think IT ready to tap the Australian market is a very sensible idea seeing the traffic between the two countries is only going to grow.
As for the IC planned DEL-KL-MEL route, that has been postponed indeffinately till the merger between AI and IC happens on more concrete terms and till AI solves its current fleet and pilot shortages.

Is this evidence perhaps that Airbus and their prediction of hub-hub longhaul may be bearing fruit ?
Oh and I fully endorse Boeings regional hub-hub expectations for the 787 too.
