Well folks here is YOUR chance to see the 2004 “King’s Cup” take place. This is the premier event of the UK air race season and it is absolutely FREEEEEEEEEEEE………….!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sunday 12 September at 1200 local start so be there for, say, 1100 or even earlier to see the odd bit of practice. Plenty of parking space and Malcolm’s famed nosh in the clubhouse so you will not have to miss Sunday lunch. Go on bring mother in law, she will enjoy it and you do not have to engage in forced conversation.
Leicester is located around 4 miles southeast of the city between the A6 and the A47 near Staughton village.
Todays race, the Stewards Cup, was won, subject to confirmation, by a TB21 Trinidad with a Cessna 337 second. Fairly close finish with all the field over the line within around 60 seconds and the usual 80% avalanche over around 15 seconds. The sky was dark grey if not black with aeroplanes for a while. Thank the Lord none had Mode S transponders on otherwise the Swanwick plutocracy would have imploded.
See you all tomorrow.
Cheers,

Well to the three souls who did look at this thread thank you for coming to Leicester today along with a host of other aviation enthusiasts to see the race. It was won by P Wadsworth in a Grumman AA-5B Tiger and J Spooner came second in his Bonanza with Bob Miller third in a Bulldog. Another close race with but10 seconds separating the winner from the seventh home. There were plenty of visiting aircraft and Malcolm’s cuisine extraordinaire filled everyone up.
A grand day out however its a rotten evening now and looks like being so for a few days.
Cheers,
