In light of the recent open house at the local Army Aviation unit I’ve taken an interest yet again in Bell’s Kiowa Warrior. With all the discussion of fighters and attack helicopters that goes on around here, I just realized that scout helos aren’t ever discussed very much, and I thought perhaps a discussion on the current array of light attack/scout/recon helos would be in order. If someone can help me think of them all that would be great. The ones I can think of are:
OH-58 Kiowa/Kiowa Warrior (Bell)
AH-6/MH-6 Little Bird (Hughes)
Gazelle (Eurocopter)
OH-1 Ninja (Kawasaki?)
Bo.105 (Bolkow?)
Can anyone think of others? Which ones do you guys think are the best at their jobs?
When I manage to get my recent photos downsized I’ll post my Kiowa Warrior pictures here. It’s quite a heavily armed little thing. I remember getting to sit in one a few years ago, and I was amazed at the cockpit. It’s got a nice glass cockpit.
Oh yeah and one more thing. Do any other countries besides the United States and Taiwan operate the OH-58D?

Peek-a-Boo! 🙂
