Hi,
The first KL 777 is due to be delivered in October. Down below is the 777 on roll out (Without engines). The livery looks excellent on the 777-200 :)!

The ones that aren’t gone yet will keep on flying a while. A retirement date has not been set yet, with the exception for the two beforementioned B733s that are to be replaced by 1 B739.
It is a very safe bet though that they will be replaced by next gen B737s though. Perhaps not as many as they had. Also, I would expect some B73Gs to replace the B733.
It won’t be long term (how can KLM do that, their planes are showing their age and even Ryanair’s and Easyjet’s fleet are younger), medium term is more likely. I expect an announcement in a year or two. Or several small announcement that will pass by almost unnoticed like the last B733-B739 swap.
Please note, I am not an insider. Maybe someone inside KLM can drop a few hints?

Hi,
What aircraft will cover the 737-300’s/400’s when they are retired?

Sorry, am I correct in assuming you are talking about the A320 family? I would consider that highly unlikely. KLM has a large fleet of next generation B737s. They are very satisfied with them. They even ordered an additional B739 a few weeks back to replace 2 B733s that will be retired over the year.
At the moment KLM has 13 B738s and 4 (to be 5) B739s. If you add the fleet of 100% daughter Transavia the total becomes 8 B73Gs, 29 B738s and 4 (to be 5) B739s.
I do consider it likely that KLM will order more A330s in a few years time. I think that only a very sweet deal for B7E7s will keep KLM from ordering more.

Hi,
Do you think there will be more Airbus aircraft in the fleet?

Do you think there will be more Airbus aircraft in the fleet? It doesn’ t make sence to take into your fleet only one Airbus model because of the uniformaty of the fleet.

Hi,
KLM needed a fleet overhaul…there B747s were geting old.
KLM’s 747-200’s/300’s are getting old, but the 400’s are not. The oldest KLM 747-400 was built in 1989. 🙂

Aren’t they suppose to hang huge concrete ballast blocks from the engine pylons whilst engineless ?

Are KLM economising? That’s one hell of a glider! Curiously enough I see what Ren means about a whale.

Im soo glad they changed their livery recently, even though its a small change I really like it, the new one looks more newer and cleaner and also suits the B772 perfectly!

I must say, that is one sharp aircraft. Although the lighting from the setting sun makes the colors looks a little different, when it is spotted in the full rays of the sun I can make a better judgement. BTW, when are the A330’s due for KLM?

I really think them colours on a 777 look horrible. I think they are much better suited to a 747.

Agreed there with Saab, a little too much blue perhaps?
By: Saab 2000 - 8th September 2003 at 18:30
It doesn’t do the 777 justice. There is something substancial missing that just ruins the 777s good looks.

I don’ t see the picture 🙁 Could you post it again please

I quite like it. There’s something about the front end of a 777 that reminds me of a whale ! Anyone else getting this ?
