AMSTELVEEN – Fridaymorning (25 february) a secured KLM Cargo car was robbed at the apron at AMS. During the robbery KLM security personnel was temporarily threatened, but no personnel injuries where reported. The robbers fled, and are still at large.
The robbed van was a transport of valuables bound for Antwerp. The shipment consisted mainly of diamants and jewelry. The robbers took the van and fled. Short time later the car was found in Hoofddorp, near AMS.
The marechausse (equivalent to the military police) is in charge of the investigation that has been opened. As long as the investigation is ongoing KLM refuses to make statements to the press.
