KLM "interested in Aberdeen-US flights"

So says Mr Vincent Knoops, KLM’s General Mngr for UK/Ireland.

However it would be subject to:

* ABZ runway extension being approved & implemented
* Open skies, thus removing restrictions on who can & cannot operate between UK & US.

IF that happens, KLM say they could re-route one of their two IAH services out of AMS via ABZ to pick up pax there.

IF that happens…

Aberdeen + Houston = OIL.

That is what would drive the demand.

Lots of people fly ABZ-AMS to fly onward to IAH.

IF COA launched a direct ABZ-IAH service then KLM would lose out, so perhaps understandable that they would want to hang onto their pax.

But yeah, long way to go, if it ever comes to pass.

Temperature in hell +500568.945 celcius last time I looked. :dev2:

Looking at the story as I type. NNNNNNope, deffo says K L M ! :p

If it was NWA, then the US-UK restrictions wouldn’t apply, as it would be a US airline. Fact that KLM are saying that it depends on the restrictions on who can operate UK-US would mean to me that it is KLM that would look to fly the route.

Mind you I am aware that NWA have several 757s they could send across the pond, but IAH isn’t a NWA hub?

Meanwhile, talks between ABZ, IAH Boosh & an “unnamed” airline that every man & his dog knows is Continental continue.

Interesting indeed.

Would be a huge coup for ABZ!

Could someone please check the temperature in hell?

I would say that the chance of KLM operating intercontinental flights from any place other then AMS or a NWA hub is very remote.

Now had you said that NWA might introduce a ABZ flight, that I would find a whole lot more likely. Perhaps that is mr Knoops meant? A NWA flight with KLM code-sharing? After all, every NWA flight across the atlantic is a joint KL/NW flight.
