Hi,
A few question for you KLM enthusiasts.
• Do KLM MD11s have PTV’s?
• If not, are there any plans to?
• Can anyone confirm that KLM are using MD-11s on their twice daily service to Dubai (DXB/OMDB)?
Thanks in advance,
Sam

Finnair are to begin offloading their MD-11’s next year mate, with two of them going to Aeroflot Cargo. They should be out of the fleet by 2010, by which time they’ll have received additional A340-300’s and A330’s to replace them.
It won’t be long before the MD11 disappears into Finnair!!

I was on a Finnair MD 11 from DEl-HEL not too long back.. such a comfortable journey.

It’s an interesting compromise. On one hand you could hope to go on a T7 with PTV’s for, perhaps, a more enjoyable flight. On the other hand you could hope to go on one of the last (of a few) MD11’s in commercial service!
It’s a shame.. but i think that the few remaining MD11’s still in airline service are destined to become freight dogs in the very near future.. following in the foot steps of their much maligned sister.. the DC10

No IFE on the MD-11s, and I do not know of any plans to install them either. The MD11s are mostly used on low yielding routes so the incentive to kit them out with the latest and greatest is small. Besides, as mentioned the planes will start leaving the fleet in 5 or so 6 years.
I have checked for todays flights and both DXB flights are with 772s. They do have PTV and a fantastic one at that.

How long before the KLM fleet of MD11’s end up at Fedex???..any takers??
Aeroflot Cargo are apparently interested in them, aswell as Finnairs.

I believe the M11s are all being re-fitted or have been re-fitted with the new WBC seats and PTVs in economy. They’ll be around for a few years yet, though they’re not the most reliable in the fleet.

I am pretty sure KLM don’t have PTVs on there MD 11’s, I wouldn’t know if they plan to do so in the future though.
On DXB..like DEL its not always the MD 11..i think it changes between the 747 and the 11.
