Yes, really !!!!!! :dev2::mad::eek:
Read http://www.scramble.nl/forum/viewtopic.php?f=47&t=44868&start=30 and further on
The board of Aviodrome/DDA consists out of KL people, they run the show these days.
And if the board says no………. which they did……It has nothing to do with money, like I said that is all sorted.
It can’t be technical either as the Connie runs like a dream and both US crew members where very happy although there is always some tinkering to do with these grand old ladies.
So far the real reason has not been given, to us technicians anyway.
Well other then “we don’t want it” that is.
Till last week that “we don’t want it” was “good, carry on” which we did.
You don’t have to doubt the source, he is well-known in Dutch propliner circles…

“Cold feet” VERY late in the day…
Taken from http://www.scramble.nl/forum/viewtopic.php?f=47&t=44868&start=45 .
The timing of this decision is rather unfortunate to say the least. I hope the one responsible for this is made VERY aware that this is not the way to treat hard-working volunteers… 😡
Money just cannot buy everything…
OK, here is info from a reliable source with KLM, that I will not further disclose.
The ban on flying has everything to do with reliability (in retrospect: what else…). The risks of ‘just flying’ this aircraft are deemed too high and solutions will be sought to manage those risks. How that will be done remains unclear, but a form similar to the Dakota operation seems likely.
Questions that remain:
– How long will it take to meet the liability-related demands, if it is feasable?
– Why was this decision taken now, on the brink of the first flight after so much hard work? Did nobody see this coming?
– And still: why on earth has nobody from the board come out yet to simply explain matters? We wait in anticipation…

Air France-KLM are cutting 3000 jobs:

Regardless of what the financial arrangements actually are, under the circumstances, maybe its felt that continuing operation gives the wrong impression.
