After being fined a while ago to pay Alitalia EUR 280 million as a result of breaking the partnership, KLM is now trying to find ways to pay this in another way than cash. Talks with Alitalia are taking place these days to see if a different way of paying can be found.
Possibilities mentioned in Dutch newspapers could be maintenance of a/c, handling of a/c etc.
Will Alitalia accept???? Now that their US partners are cooperating more and more and intensified talks between KLM and Air France about KLM joining the Sky Team alliance of which Alitalia is a member as well I can imagine it will.

Perhaps this is one of the reasons that Klm are trying to off load Buzz, to get a little extra cash in order to pay back Alitalia???
