could somebody tell me what UFO stands for?

Usually it stands for Unidentified Flying object 😉

However in this case I used it for the Unidentified customers who have placed FIRM ORDERS for airliners with boeing . Boeing always announced orders the day that they are signed however they list them as Unidentified until the Buyer chooses to make public his purchase . A case example here is the Unidentified order for 15 777’s that was placed last week where it is widely believed that GE’s leasing arm is the buyer however until GE announces them boeing wont disclose the name of the customer however the order has been FIRMED up and a contract SIGNED.

Yeah, I noticed there are 32 UFOs for the 787

I could only come up with a guess for 11 of those (vietnam airlines) . what about the others? Can you guess some of the takers? They might be options however if there is a new customer IMO it almost has to be a bluechip airline (maybe SQ , or even LH).

Whats even more interesting is that these were all new orders (not out of UFO’s) thereby taking boeing’s total tally to close to 850 jets !! Boeing still has something like 130 or so commitments to convert and if they convert all LOI’s they should come quite close to the 1000 mark !!
