She did a 20 Day stint of the coast of Norway last November…
The CVBG went as far as the coast of Iceland where it stopped and fueled rumours of some sort of breakdown while Icelandic and Norwegian aircraft monitored.
If anyone was to buy her, it would come down to either India or China…
Do you really think Russia would sell her to China? They are potential rivals.
…maybe that’s why they bought her sister (odd that nothings been heard of her since she made homeport- and all info regarding her is restricted now- so much foir the hotel theory).
More recent pictures are available. She is still rusting away in Dalian.

there was some loose reports, which i think was posted in here too abt Kuzentzov to be decommsioned, as Russian Navy dont need it or somethind.
Well don wanna cheer abt that, as I don wanna see Russia to loose her sole carier. but at the though of Indian Navy to get one more carrier and a carrier who can put on them a combo of MiG-29K and Su-33, i just cant keep dreaming abt h it wud look like in Indian colors ….
Ken,
do u intend to go for St Perterbergd Marine Defence Show??

But are reports of it being decomissioned true?
Doubt it mate, she’s just about ready to go for another cruise. She did a 20 Day stint of the coast of Norway last November and is about to go for a bigger trip this time, on an international visit, possibly including Portsmouth, but she is heading for the Mid Altantic this time. Well that’s what I heard, the Russians are very angry at having her sitting around and she is too new and important to be disposed of so soon (the Russian public are actually proud of it).
If anyone was to buy her, it would come down to either India or China, India would put up a high price in an attempt to out bid China who actually has the funds to make one of their own, maybe that’s why they bought her sister (odd that nothings been heard of her since she made homeport- and all info regarding her is restricted now- so much foir the hotel theory).

… assuming IN couyld afford it and would prefer it over capacity to home-build a carrier

Is it true that the Russians are going to decommision the KUZ? Would be a nice addition to the Indian fleet and give it a 3 carrier navy in a short span of time . Guess its just wishful thinking.

About Kuznetsov at Portsmouth review
In response to the suggestion that – the Russian aircraft carrier Admiral Kuznetsov will attend the International Navy review at Spithead on June 28th.
This is news to me – seen nothing of it on the Trafalgar200 website yet. But their again I have yet to see any details on any of the warships attending the Naval review.
All I’ve seen is a mention on the British Embassy’s Moscow website saying the Russian Federation Navy has been invited to attend.
Nevertheless – Admiral Kuznetsov at Spithead is definately top of my wish list – as American and French aircraft carriers barely raise an eyebrow on the Solent. But a Soviet ( oops sorry Russian ) aircraft carrier complete with its airwing of navalised MIG29’s Fulcrum and SU27 Flanker jets buzzing the M27 motorway will have me in raptures.
Particularly as I live in Southampton.

It would be interesting to see if the first batch of IN Mig-29Ks do a stint on the Kuznetsov as that will be the only platform available for initial shakedown tests and IN pilot training.
The Prodigal Son (29K) will return to the Father (Kuz), only temporarily though. DACT with the 33Ks would be a nice metric for the 29Ks.

While I do like the Flankers, I do wish they’ve chosen the MiG-29K 🙁
Wash your mouth out !!!!!! 😮

Personally Burger, I’d like to see more of the Su-25’s on the deck.
The Su-25s on board were only unarmed trainers. The offensive antiship capability consisted of a dozen or so rather large heavy vertical launch SS-N-19s under the deck.

How many a/c does she usually put to sea with? Will she ever have a full compliment?

Gary: in that first pic you posted, just at the edge of the pic is an orange pipe. Am I correct in thinking that this is actually a Fire Fighting canon?
I just noticed, the guy on the gangway is leaning on another one.
