Kyrgyzstan bans Boeing 737-200s

The Civil Aviation Department (CAD) of Kyrgyzstan has issued an order that prohibits all Boeing 737-200 series aircraft from further operations, until “appropriate documents, legitimizing the performance of technical service, engines and airborne auxiliary power in accordance with technical maintenance program, and approved by the Krygz CAD”, have been sighted.

Airlines operating the 737-200 in the republic, include Istok Avia, Itek Air and Max Avia.

Boeing 737-200s, operated by companies in Kyrgyz were recently involved three air accidents, the last on October 9 in Islamabad, when a Kyrgyz-registered aircraft had to return to airport due to reported engine problems.

On August 24, 2008 a Boeing 737-200 operated by Itek Air, crashed near Bishkek, killing 65 people.

Basically: Prove you have kept up or exceeded maintenance schedules or don’t fly them.

Perhaps an unjustified prejudice, but considering the airlines involved I would be surprised if all records where kept clean. I do hope the 732s can get back into service, there are not many flying 732s left.
