Hello all !
I am wondering if anyone can help me identify what aircraft a vintage seat / chair I own, came from.
Someone is offering a similar one on ebay, and is listing it as being from a Lancaster or halifax, ( I am not connected to that person, neither am I trying to sell my seat). As far as I was aware, the seat I had was not old enough to be from such aircraft, but seing the other one listed has made me very curious as to the exact origin of my seat.
The seat is of a tubular aluminium construction, painted green, with its original sprung seat cushion.
I am hoping the info given below may be enough for someone to help, but I can post pics if needed.
The chair has a small label on it, reading,
L.A. Rumbold
Kilburn
London NW6
Part no : 671167G (first digit may be a 8)
Issue No : LAR 32
Serial No : A 2325 1c
Cheers !

Hello all
Thankyou for the responses.
Yes, identical to the ebay listing linked above, I will try add a pic tomorrow ( when I can get a pic taken) (chair currently in the greenhouse where it has been for years)
Sadly mine does not have the leather, just the seat cushion.
I have always wondered what it came from, especially as it came from one of my grandfathers friends, ( who was Ukrainian) who was in the ss ( actually a guard at Sobibor – but that is a whole different story !)
Thankyou !!!!

Elliott,
Could be, the same type of seat was used in the Hastings as well, but had
to just look that one up.:D
The Hastings example however differs in that it has a headrest on top of the arch of the seat back. If there are anyfitti ngs present then it’s Hastings, but perhaps a photograph could be posted of the seat in question. Or the variours seats that have been sold as being Halifax over the years could all have been from a Hastings instead.
Cheers

Hi there – Maybe it’s from a Hastings? The 67 prefix might fit with that… Cees?

This one?
It’s the wireless operator’s seat as used in the Halifax/Halton. I have one as well and there are more I have come across over the years, the leather upholstry is missing though as they all usually lack. Would be nice to see one with the leather complete.
Cheers
