Is there anybody who knows how many Tristar are still in service?

Unlike the ubiquitous DC 10 that found a second life in the cargo field,most L1011s are finding a home in the Mojave Desert.

the Tristars “complement” the VC-10 – I think there are 6 in service with 216sqn at Brize. No decision has been made re A330 or B767 as replacement yet as far as i am aware

there are at least 15 tristars in service with the raf they were replacing the vc10’s but now they are themselves being replaced by the boeing 767’s

I saw this at LHR last year. Nice to see a rare bird now and again.

hi we were going to go on one of them 2 florida but they decided to go with european air charter and stoped their co operation would not of liked to have stoped in gander to fuel up tho because it would have been 10 hours on the plane instead of 8 and a half hours

Had a flick through Airliners.net for you, photographs taken this year of Tristars include:
* Saudi Arabian Airlines
* Euro-Atlantic Airways
* American Trans Air (ATA)
* Air Transat
* Northeast Airlines
There are some privately owned Tristars pictured and the UK Air Force has one (or some?) still in use.
