Uploaded a large set of photo’s from last weekends La Ferte Alais airshow.
Unfortunatly we arrived late and had to leave a bit early .The flightline almost starting to be cleared before I could the better part of the views.
Still a few surprises left to see :
Spitfire ML407 NL-D obvious a replica
New Sopwith Strutter ,recently made its first flight
And a select row of Yak Fighters ,P-51 ,P-40 Spitfire ,Hawk ,Skyraiders ,Red Bull P-38 ,Sikorsky S-38 ,Ryan PT-22 ,Harvards and 6 Fw.44 Stieglitz biplanes .A single jet performed like the Super Etendard and MS.760 aswell the brandnew A400.
The Sea Fury performed superb with its smoke generators

A pretty good FSM.
The serial looks to be non standard…but ML407 was NL-D and French serials were smaller and this would be post D-Day stripes in January 1945.
Now I wonder if a period ‘in service’ image was referenced by the owner/painter.
Any clues?
Mark
Thanks mark for the reply
Googled around last days ,but didn’t find anything relating to ML407NL-D

Hmm, I learned something here…
I always thought this to be a NA-50 lookalike (the fighter version derived from the T-6 family) but had never twigged to the French Hellcat scheme. Perhaps I had it confused with this US based NA-50 ‘replica’ (which doesn’t look as good in my opinion): http://www.vg-photo.com/airshow/qb39/na-50.html
Anybody who can shed more light on this? Was it converted to be a NA-50 or a Hellcat??
Indeed a good question.
I only know these (at least 2 ) Hellcats “looks” were used in a movie.
If these are NA-50’s or NA-68’s (like some sites refer to ) I don’t know.

Look like a great show, which Sea Fury was it?
Like the Harvard looking like a Hellcat!:)
HAWKER SEA FURY FB.11 ,F-AZXJ
I’ve updated the text yesterday after a long google puzzle :
HAWKER SEA FURY FB.11 ,F-AZXJ as Royal Australian Navy WH589 coded 115-NW.
This Fury is ex Royal Navy TF987 and was used by Iraq as 316.
Around 1980 transferred to the US and registered N56SF.
At some stage transferred to a Sea Fury T.20 model.
Flew as in Royal Navy Colors coded 737R.
N56SF was lost in an accident July 2001.
Rebuild in California and first flight after rebuild in 2009.
Now equipped with a Wright R-3350 engine with 4-bladed prop.
Surprised to find this is actualy the N56SF 737-R I saw in Abbotsford.
It was lost soon after the show killing the pilot.
Hopefully the story above is correct.

Lovely pics Johan…thanks for posting them!
The spitfire looks like a replica to me…I only say that because the elevators are set to neutral,on a real a/c they would either be fully down or sometimes ‘up’ if locked…obviously I cannot be 100% sure just from a photo 🙂rgds baz
Thanks Baz
The details of the elevator is new to me.
Will keep this in mind.

plastic, or better composite. will never fly!!!!
yp
Thanks YP
It was already obvious that it was more a replica than a real one.
Strapped together landing gear ,empty canopy ,clean exhaust and a fake serial (ML407OU-V is the airworthy T.9)
Although ,couldn’t find any reference on the web recarding a replica in this markings.
case solved ,

Indeed I did.
I was fortunate enough to spend the weekend as a guest of The Memorial Flight Association on the airfield.
The Strutter is very beautiful.

I spent Friday and Saturday there and I reckon it was the best air-show I’ve ever been to.
The weather helped of course.
