Lady Parachutists 1937

Can anyone provide further information about these two photographs that I found in my grandfathers photo collection?

On the back of one he has written: “Expert lady parachutists film work. No. 6 FTS Netheravon, Oct 1937” and on the other “Film Work – Mr C J Baker (Ass. Civ. Adjt) talking to lady parachutists Netheravon, Oct 1937”

What kind of a/c is it in the photo? Looks like there is a small platform on the wing that they may have jumped from?

These two pictures have always puzzled me so any additional info would be much appreciated.

Thank you.

Thanks for your input Alistair. I wonder what they were being filmed for, some sort of training film or something perhaps?

The ‘plane looks like a Vickers Virginia or something similar, such as the Valentia (the engines look like radials)…

Cheers
