I’ve cobbled together a vague reproduction of a Lanc bomb aimer’s panel, based on the plan another forumite posted a while back. Wondering if there are any photos showing a Lanc with the height and speed calculator fitted? It fills up an empty space nicely but the drawing seems to be the only evidence for it. The overall dimensions are not quite right but allowed a bit of square hole laser cutting and thus no whittling.

Looks like your missing a couple of bits on the left side in KB944

Here are a few shots of the bomb aimer’s position in Lancaster X KB944, which is on display at the Canada Air and Space Museum in Ottawa , Canada.
This is probably the most complete bomb aimers position of any of the existing Lancaster X left. However, there is no actual bomb sight fitted at present .
Looking at the Canadian Lancaster modification numbers, there were a couple of changes to the position during the production run at Malton, as I am sure there were on those produced by Avro and the shadow factories.
Does anyone know where one can find a complete listing of Avro (UK produced) Lancaster produced modification numbers ?

Unfortunately my house is too small to take it home if completed. Did have a child make a pretty good Vickers K and another a Browning sniper rifle though. Fortunately before the laws changed!

With your skill in wood work could be a great project for your students to build you a complete bomb aimers position :diablo:

Thanks Graham, I’ll have a go at that. Sods law with the lights, Pagen, might just make the covers. It’s going to a fairly cosmetic reconstruction!

Thanks Peter and Smirky. The calculator has holes in it so looks like it should be screwed down. The drawing is very indistinct so could easily be yours, Smirky. The two fuze boxes came out of the ground at Llandow so were once fitted to something in service. Every photo seems to show variations to the panel so this is a bit of a guess! There is a really good example at Tangmere, including authentic crinkle finish paint. I just need a cheap stopwatch to finish it off.

Ahhh, so it was you! I only discovered the sale after it was sold – if you know what I mean!
Willing to help out anyway I can Ian, but those Translite bulb holders are a sod to find in quantity. Strangely I’m just reassembling my main panel at the moment.

Thanks Pagen and Versuch, spelling is not my strong point Smirky. Being a woodwork teacher it’s not in my contract! Looking through old threads, Pagen, did you ever find the light holders for for your Sea Vixen panel? I’ve just bought a fascia and will be knocking on your door soon!
