If you like this try ‘the life and death of colonel blimp’.

True, good point, more a supernatural/romance film, The wartime aspect does provide a excellent backdrop though

It’s not a war film. It’s not about war, it just happens to be set at that time. The war is merely a backdrop.

It’s a cracking mock up, I wonder what happened to it? Likely disposed of at some time.
As war films go it’s really good, fantastic story, great actors and it features A ‘lanc’ (albeit probably a mock up) and a Mossie too, great movie.

Ahhh my second favourite film of all time…..Ummmmmm Kim Hunter !
anyway, I’m pretty confident i read some where that it was a specially made mock-up for the film.
alas I cannot remember the source !

On most wartime Lancs, there is a visible “stub” of the dual control yoke on the control column.

‘Tis indeed PA474.

It’s not a after market mod it is in the original manuals probably fitted to a/c used for training pilots. and yes it is PA474

Luvly
Tell me being a mere gnome of no great knowledge …
I assume that’s PA474?
Is the dual control an “after-market” mod so to speak? I thought Lancs were single pilot/control.
cheers D

Yeah I found those pics a while back while Googling, and was amazed at the quality of them, especially when you start to zoom in. Shame there’s not more there for other sections in the bomber really.
Those are authentic wartime water bottles at the back of the nav’s table, of course?! 😉
