I spoke to someone who had been approached by the film company and the intention was never to destroy it – just use it and pass it on.

Nope – she went to Germany intact. No strippage occured.

No ill feelings from the owners Peter. They were both agreeable with what happened to it and it all worked out well in the end. It’s unfortunate that other people kept trying to stick their oar in.

It was indeed Dresden Alan – you are correct.

and it went to a buyer in Germany for film work.

Just thinking aloud, this film work in Germany may well have been the “Dresden – The Inferno” made-for-TV film that is mentioned in one of the Dambusters re-make threads.

I recall wondering which replica they were using and this makes it pretty obvious.

Peter, it was bernie himself I was chatting to, he had some cracking pics too If I can get hold of a copy I will try to scan them on here but I cant promise anything

I understand this cockpit has been recently acquired from the post “Bernie” owners in Germany by a collector who intends to rebuild it or utilise it as the basis of rebuilt cockpit display.
