Lancaster Cockpit Lamp Restoration

I’m restoring two Lancaster cockpit lamps and I’m in need of the replacement red material that covers the lamp. Is this material a form of celluloid and where might I find it?

Thanks,

Ron T

Cool, is it part of a larger project – any chance of a picture?

The lighting gels work great. This restoration is going much easier than I thought.

Thank you 🙂

Or you can google transparent acrylic tube

http://www.sheetplastics.co.uk/Acrylic_rod_/Acrylic_Tube/colour_tube/colour_acrylic_tube/red_transparent_tubes

or buy acrylic rod and turn it to size.

Trying to restore one of these rather than just buying another one – you are a man after my own heart 🙂

Just had a look and it appears to be a red coloured perspex cylinder relatively thick. This might be hard to find but you can get thin sheets of red stuff for stage lighting ‘ gels’ which might roll up to good effect.
