Here are a few pics of the prototype replica control wheel, getting the “dipping”correct was fun,but now very pleased with the outcome.Just for an alternate look we have tried string wrapping the wheel ,[just like the pilots high powered Lagonda car ] with what I think is a very pleasing result.
The string wrapped wheel is an optional finish. As i mention in my Lancaster seat posting these parts are being reproduced to generate income for the restoration of FM 104 in Toronto.Follow on projects WILL be the control column and the control pedestal assemblies [throttle box].

Tim thanks for the kind words ,pleased that your happy .Attached is a picture of the final version of the control wheel, fitted with original switches…getting the “grip ridges” on the inside of the wheel correct was surprisingly difficult….the first wheel was string wrapped to hide the fact that they were missing, but i must admit i think it looks rather good that way

I do not want to upset the boards owners by selling here on site …..my project is to build the front section of a lancaster bomber,as this is progressing many parts have to be recreated ,i am working from original drawings and in many cases have the loan of original components to copy.
If you would like to contact me I will be able to give more information about the control wheels [and the various options available ]and other parts i have.you can send me a message here or email me……

I Hope Geoff won’t mind me posting the picture but I’ve recently brought one of his Lancaster control wheels and as the saying goes ‘Give credit where credit is due’ It is superb and I’d recommend them to anyone that is looking for one, as they are a fraction of the cost of an original.
Thumbs up from me.

Thanks for the kind words Peter and Tony,i will post pics of the frame as soon as its done.Tony you still building a hurricane around the firewall i made for you? That was another interesting project, mind you not as bad as putting the square ends on the tubes you wanted.I see that Graham Adlam has the hurricane center section, something that has been nagging at the back of my mind about that job, what was the identity of the genuine section i had in the workshop?
I am indeed old chap!! Check my website…hope you are well….I should have recognised your name but since you no longer have the double barrel name I did not!!! What section of frame are we laking about? 🙂

Geoff, you have inspired me to dig out my control wheel for restoration….I have been trying for years to convince AirMinistry to let me have some bits to finish mine to no avail!!!:)
