Dear all,
this watch was found on a Lancaster crash site. It was built by the swiss company “Presto” which sold such watches to the RAF and it clearly belonged to one of the Lanc crew.
Was this type of watch specific to one of the crew member ? (I think of the Air Bomber, or the navigator)
or could any of the Lanc crew member have such watch ?
Thanks for shedding light on this ;
All best

Obviously, a close examination by a watch specialist a list might tell you more. There are some real experts out there that might be able to say whether it is consistent with a RAF-issued watch.
Of course it might cost a few quid….

Thanks Mike,
unfortunately, the cover was torn off, probably by the explosion of the bomb load of the A/C

Its hard to say seeing as it does not have the back plate, that will have the A.M stamp and either a 6A or B or 6E followed by the part number.The faces rarely have model numbers.
It movement appears to be older than my 1940 models , it also could be a personal watch.
Cheers Mike
