I wondered if anyone could help me in any history regards the above mentioned Lancaster.
What i have been passed to me so far is it flew into Binbrook on 1-10-45 .
It also served with 1661 HCU at Winthorpe.
I am trying to find out any pictures of the a/c and any details about its time before delivery to Binbrook and its date of scrapping etc to hopefully solve a puzzle of a picture i have.
Thankyou in advance

Hi My great Uncle was engineer on ED324 and I have his flying log shoeing it’s use at 12 squadron at Raf Wickenby in 1943. Looks like they were testing it and practicing formation flying.

The Lancaster File by Air-Britain has ED324 serving with 1656 HCU/1662HCU/ 1 LFS/1662 HCU To 5290M 7.45
ED323 was with 1661HCU but went to 15 Sqdn and shot down Berlin 28.1.44.

It might be worthwhile checking with the curator at Newark – whilst there are not too many identifiable 1661 HCU Lancaster photos in the Archive you may get lucky!
