Hi RB,
thank you for donating towards the Lancaster!
The goal is to get her up to taxiiable condition eventually. There are plans for a further hangar to be built north and west of the present one with room out front for a mini taxi ramp area…!

Good oh. I chucked a couple of hundred Canadian in the donations box when I visited in 2010 – glad to see its been put to good use. Even my (then) 18 y/o son was impressed at being able to go into the aircraft and that 60 years earlier, young men only slightly older than he would have been going to war in it.

Is the ultimate plan to get it in the air or is it beyond that. I had a mooch around the one in YYC too but that looked pretty tired.

They do hope to taxi her eventually.. The current ramp space is not quite big enough.. Hopefully once the expansion plans go ahead, she will have enough space for a taxi run….

No doubt they will consider running taxi experience trips, which have of course proved hugely popular at East Kirkby, sold out months ahead, and a great source of revenue.

I hope they do it.

Top Hole, – great to see any old aircraft come back to life. It’s also a most fitting memorial to the efforts of all the RCAF crews. Wonderful….:applause:

Hi guys,
Yes it is indeed great to see her running for sure. I put in many years of work getting her to the point where she could have her engines running once more. Unfortunately I am no longer active on the restoration but she holds a special place for me not only for having the privilidge of working on such an iconic piece of RCAF WW2 History, but also for the many great veterans and friends I have met along the way..!

It is the goal of the Restoration crew to have the Lancaster running on all four engines and taxiiable. She has had the brakes restored already so its just a matter of time before she moves under her own power which will be terrific!! She currently has had her bomb doors, flaps, landing lights all returned to working condition and as a added bonus, she has LED lights installed in the front gun turrets 303 guns which add to the experience on night runs.

Merlin Pete, I think they may still be in need of a few items for the fourth engine… Let me know if you can help !

Excellent! Keep up the good work.
Is the 4th engine now complete, or do you still need parts for it?

Always good to see another Lancaster coming back to life! 🙂

I take it she’s just to be a ground-runner?
