Evening, we at BBMF were just wondering if someone might have in their possession a Lancaster FuelC0ck.
Its numbers are:

3/O.2496

The Lancaster landed back at RAF Coningsby after its air test. All appeared to be well.
Spitfire, serial MK356, had problems today with undercarriage/hydraulics. It was in the circuit at RAF Coningsby for a lengthy period with the Pilot trying to sort out the problem. Last heard on the scanner attempting a landing on the grass at RAF Cranwell North due to the possibility of undercarriage collapsing. Sounded like a successful landing on the scanner.

Yes thats correct it was tested and then fitted, airtest this week and hopefully she will be at Duxford for the weekend. Plus the original should be fixed by the end of the week and we have another one to look at tomorrow. So we should have 2 spares now, so a big thank you from BBMF for all of you that have helped us sort out this problem

From my ‘limited knowledge’ I believe that a lot of people are underestimating the tremendous effort that the BBMF personnel and their ‘support teams’ put in to the successful operation of the Flight.
There will be genuine reasons (some already stated) for making this appeal and their (BBMFs) ongoing efforts to resolve this issue should be applauded not questioned – please keep up the great work that you undertake! 🙂

Hopefully they get it fixed for Duxford next weekend.

As well as Duxford’s Lanc do not forget their York, same fuel ****.
I remember this being a provisioning problem back in the 80’s but cannot remember how we solved it.
Has anybody tried Ken Ward, he has or had a load of Lanc parts.

If the shackleton has pneumatic/hydraulically driven fuelc0cks then the vulcan wont have chan driven ones

Just a passing thought…..
Everyone up to now seems to be looking to other members of the Avro piston aircraft family, but is it worth having a look at Vulcan airframes? They started life toward the end of the in-service period of the piston types and may share components that were in common use at that time.

Piston Power – The parts have to be genuine because that is your guarantee that the part should perform within the specification that it was designed for.
That is why aircraft are very expensve -it takes many hours of design and test to produce something that is usable and safe.The Mod does not have a limitless cheque book -indeed those days finished a long time ago -so whilst it would be nice to set up facilities to produce new parts -the economics of producing new parts on the demand for the world’s two airworthy Lancasters would be crazy!

Apart from the run of the mill parts of engines wheels tyres etc don’t the bbmf try to find and keep in stock such parts like this valve for the future when spares become even harder to source?.

PP, you’d probably learn more by watching rather than posting.
The BBMF know what they’re doing, you patently don’t know anything about the subject.
Robbo, This is a open forum to discuss plenty of things to ask questions to learn yes i may not know as much as you but you have to ask questions to get on, im sorry if your bored with my posts i will ask the questions as and when i want.

I suspect she’s long been picked clean of useable bits already, but what about Sugar in Hendon?
I wouldnt have thought so given the now intention to get JJ flying in the next 24 months!
