Hi all
Anyone know that this turned on / off on a Lancaster ?I think it was originally straight and was turned anticlockwise to open. There is a small circle on the underside with either a 7 or 17.
Thanks
Andy

Thanks for the replies everyone. Has anyone got a photo of one conected to a fire extinguisher ? Also is there only one or would they have been several around the aircraft ?

Lanc part
Yes, it’s off of a fire extinguisher and is not a Lanc-only component.
I did, though, find one of these at the crash site of Lincoln RF511 in North Wales many years back.

Its the top of an ‘Essex type’ fire extinguisher.

Were the fire extinguishers in the cabin the hand pump type? Wondering if it might be from one of those?

I think it’s off a fire extinguisher.

Hi Peter & Alan
I thought it may have been something to do with the oxygen equipment as it seems to be made of brass and some of the other oxygen vaves I have seen are brass.
It was found in the early Eighties with some other Lancaster parts in Norfolk and it seems to have that aircraft “feel” to it.

It at first looked to be a part of a bomb cradle, used in pairs on the rack to steady the load.
However since it has “to open” on it kind of says it isn’t.

Doesnt appear to be anything Lancaster? Whats the history on it why you think it might be Lancaster? Also do you have a picture of the stamp?
