Hi,
These aren’t much, but are my contribution to the Lancaster thread…
The first 2 images are digital, the others are ones I rescanned from negatives taken a few years ago….
Easy to spot the difference in quality, eh?

Hate to say it but unless they have used tiny bits of the lincol undercarriage then it looks entirely like lancaster undercarriage to me.
Eddies correct with his comments about what you read isnt necessarliy correct.

Don’t believe everything you read in print.
I couldn’t say whether that’s Lincoln undercarriage on KB889, but just because it says in the magazine that it went to 889 doesn’t mean it did.

Just found the story from the Flypast regarding the Avro Lincoln parts used to help other Lancasters…
“The Lincoln RF342 had been handed on to what was to become the Historic Aircraft Museum. HAM sold off and the Lincoln was roaded to Blackbushe, Hampshire, in November 1983, joining Warbirds of Great Britain. It supplied parts to several Lancaster restoration projects during this time – the undercarriage going to the Imperial War Museums’ Lancaster X KB889 for instance.”

The main wheels look to be Lancaster for sure,,,,but the main struts could they be Lincoln?

Looking at the pics that papa lima posted of her she definately has lanc undercarriage not lincoln. Yak11 maybe right in that it might be KB976 that had the lincoln undercart.

I would think it more likely that the Lincoln U/C went to the ex Strathallen / Church / Arnold Lancaster….

I thought so also…but I remember reading an article in Flypast a few months ago. It was about the Avro Lincoln that was on display at Southend..well I think it stated that it undercarriage was used in the Duxford Lancaster restoration….which seems strange as I remember seeing pictures of KB889 at Oshawa Airport and it seems pretty complete….maybe I misread the article.

Lancaster KB889 at Duxford still has the original Lancaster main undercarriage and wheels fitted.

Nice photo – in fact I followed that “wallpaper” link and you’ve got some very nice stuff in there – took a copy of Diamond Lil for my wallpaper, trust you don’t mind.

Funnily enough I had a woman email me a month or two ago wanting to get some biplane wallpaper so she could paper her son’s bedroom 🙂 . She explained that she’d tried another website, but it turned out to be a fraud :rolleyes: ! I sent an email back explaining what computer wallpaper is. I guess the internet really isn’t much good if you actually are trying to buy real wallpaper!

The hubs are alloy in colour. The reason behind this is that they are Lincoln wheel hubs , so that the Shackelton tires could be used, as Lanc tires were non-existent. I think the Lincoln parts came through Doug Arnold, as did some of the engines.
At present a spare engine is being built up for CWH by Vintage V12’s in California.

I’ve asked this before I think to no avail but ill try my luck again, does anyone know why the CWH lanc has white/grey wheel hubs?
