Gents. I am doing some research for a friend that lost her Uncle in a Lancater that was shot down over France. I have the ORB pages for that day and he and his crew are there. My question is this, in what order are the crew listed? Obviously the Pilot/Captain is top of the list, but what is the running order for the other 6 crew members? Her Uncle was a gunner, but I don’t know which position was his office. She has asked me not to post personal details at this point, but his name was second from the bottom of the 7 crew listed.
Also would Avro have taken photos for their records of every Lanc as it rolled off the production line?
I will post some more details of this as the story unfolds/
Thanks in advance.
Rob.

Gents.
Many thanks for your replies. M/U gunner looks to be his position. I shall be spending some time in the company of 474 leter in the year and will try and get some photos of her.
Does anyone know if Avro took photos for their records of all their Lancs as they rolled off the production lines?

G’Day Rob, my first thought was he would have been the mid-upper gunner, as that seems to be the order crews are usually listed in.
Best regards, Matt

Lancaster Positions
I have copies of the ORB for my Dad’s tour. The list of positions in running order is: Pilot, F/Eng, Nav., A/B(Air Bomber), W/OP, M/UG, R/G. My Dad was a M/UG. Hope this helps.
Cheers, Bruce
