Just been reading the above and went to RAF Conningsby last week all aircraft in the hanger and got some really nice photo’s and of the later mark spit there rebuilding coming alone just nice.
The tour guide a nice old bloke used to fly Shakletons you may know him im sure he told me spits or Hurricane propellers are made from wood is the Lancaster the same or metal?
Which wood is it please?
And the merlin engines are no different fitted to the aircraft today as they were in the war? I asked about the carbs and ignition system exactly the same is that true nothing changed or improved in all these years? just find that a little bizzare.!:D
