Does anyone have the tiniest piece of Lancaster fuselage stringer gathering dust in their collection that they would be willing to part with please? I’m trying to track down a source for the correct material but it’s looking like the original profile is now long out of production and i may need to produce a Die to commission a fresh batch to guaruntee the accuracy.
From what i understand, the stringers on Canadian built Lancs are simple 90 degree angles but the UK built variants were more crew friendly and finished with a rounded bulb on the end, this is the type i’m looking for.
There are similar profiles avalible but non that are 100 % correct so if i can find an original profile then it would make me a very happy chappie knowing that i’m about to spend a fortune on at least the correct item.
Thanks all.

Do you have actual dimensions of the bulb angle?

I have never really given this much thought until now but is there any similarity in the structure and profiles used in the Lincoln and Shackleton to the Lancaster ?? There is still Shack scrap to be found lurking around.

I also have some bits- if Cees doesn’t have any.
The Johnny Walker trophy for the NAM Cockpitfest is made form Lanc fuselage section and has a piece of stringer across it.
Of course you can ask TO if you can come and measure it and/or the rear section of the real aircraft.
I can possibly bring a piece to NAM on the 3rd if needed.

I will have a look around the storage area tomorrow and let you know.
Yes they have a bead at the outer end of the stringer if you look at
the cross section.
