The ‘wreckage’ of the 109 was still present in the field until quite recently, as I have flown over it on a number of occasions. Think it was removed as it was always been reported to local ATC as a crashed aircraft.

Dvd request and Mosquito appearance
Help a confused TOG…is the DVD the land Girls film? or is there another DVD devoted to this awesome pairing?
Oh and just another fact, a feature film called “Another Time another place” included a sequence showing a Mosquito RR299 low flying over farm workers. This was set in WW2 and the story was about Italian prisoners of war working on a farm near Inverness and their relationships. It was filmed on location over the Black Isle near Cromarty.

Now there’s something to watch over a few times…. Great footage and sound!!
It’s just as well Black 6 was there instead of the Buchon or it would sound like two Merlins (not that there’s anything wrong with that!).
cheers from Norway (it’s already snowing).

(Still looking for an ‘early’ Harrier aircrew manual (GR.1 or GR.3).

It was shot down at Dulverton in the West Country. The amount of trouble the film unit went to for accuracy was extraordinary and it was a shame that the film didn’t see greater success for all their efforts. Indeed the director was always open to the odd suggestion from us which I think enhanced the sequence. they were a very nice crowd indeed.
I’ll never forget the sight, and sound of MH diving in at the film set for the first time. There was not a breath of wind and I recall the smoke drifting vertically upwards from some fire in the distance. As he passed overhead the sound of the Merlin reverberated in the valley for an age. We had persuaded the director to put a microphone in the bowl of the valley and I think this is where some of the fine sound came from on the film.
I was ‘the man on the ground’ for the OFMC and co-ordinated the Spitfire sequences. The Buchon was supposed to have been used however it was under long term maintenance, IIRC, hence the use of Black 6.
The spin-off was seeing ‘the girlies’ at close quarters!

Thank you.
Shame there was not a combat scene now that would have made the film.!

The Spitfire was indeed MH434, the Bf109 was “Black 6″/G-USTV.
