Landing fee’s…………currently Im learning in a R22, and each time I land after a lesson it costs me £25. And also at peak times like times on a saturday it can cost me £50. Takes the mick a little. Is it a common problem or are NCL airport just ripping us GA people off. 🙂

Thanks DBW. We enjoyed Norwich a lot and will definitely be back. Knowing that we can get more reasonable landing fees will be the icing on the cake.

Hullo Trinny,
Sorry I missed you at Norwich, I’m over the road now at a ‘local’ airline but still drop in reguarly.
If you fly in again telephone ATC on 01603 420641 and book a training rate (cross country training) they never question and the landing fee will be substantially less, figures are,
Up to 2.5 tons £10.50
Up to 3 tons £18.72
Up to 4 tons £24.95
Up to 5 tons £31.20
All prices are plus VAT, Not sure what a JP weighs but hope this helps.

Paid £70+ to land a JP5 at Norwich last weekend. Perhaps a little steeper than one might hope for although the welcome and facilities provided by Anglia Flight were superb.

£50 is bl##dy outrageous! As long as these people get away with it, it will go on and on. It sounds as though the airport operators have no interest in fostering light aviation at Newcastle, so really the flight training organisation has set up in the wrong place.

LANDING FEES
Yes, landing fees are high in this country, but the airfield operators have heavy bills to face. Apart from the pay of staff they have to face substantial CAA fees and the cost of annual inspections as well as having to ensure that Council Tax is paid to the local authority. Add to this airfield and equipment maintenance. It has always surprised me at the low fees on the continent, but in many cases the authorities look upon local airfields as a benefit to business in the area.

Landing fees in the UK are significantly higher than over most of the continent. Frankly there is little we can do about it as staying up there is not an option. I have gone the farm strip route, so I pay nothing to land, but my tenure there costs me some £190 per year, plus the hangar.
However, were I you I’d be grateful on two accounts.
1) With the reputation of the R22, I’d happily pay £25 to be safe on the ground 😮
2) Some plank learners are paying a landing fee for every touch and go in training, not just the landing at the end of the lesson.
