Chocks away for high flying Chris!
Looks like our Dukinfield hero has scored yet more publicity for his pub….

Let’s hope he looks after it properly.

Well this local forumite already has way too much of his own stuff to look after, without taking on anyone elses commitment…
Likewise. I felt quite safe sitting down here in Buckinghamshire……..

Hello All,
I’m guessing that the SHAR will get more TLC than the resident at Blackpool :dev2: :dev2:

I saw on the Anglian News a couple of weeks ago that a Cadet Squadron on Northampton now have a Harrier in their car park…the MoD must be having a bit of a garage sale!

Why don’t some local forumites suggest to Chris that they help look after the aeroplane……in exchange for free beers of course!

It was actually delivered from RNAS Yeovilton. Papers eh?

Yeah, in response to what Pap Lima said, where is RAF Farnham!?!?!
I live in Guildford, 10 miinutes drive away from Farnham and trust me, there isn’t an airfield there! Could you mean Farnborough?!
Either way, amazing to see the Harrier in the pub garden, esp as my grandad had a big involvement in the Harrier project whilst based at Dunsfold. In fact, he even cleared the prototype for take off.

Wow, so as far as i know that’s two aircraft at pubs – theres an old SAR Whirlwind HAR.10 somewhere, Essex i believe
The Whirlwind was at the Wheatsheaf in Rettendon, but I believe it has moved on.

so he couldnt have been sued over the vulcan??? or how the hell did he afford two planes and leave one where he bought it????

Sea Harriers seem to be going left right and centre now they’re being retired – minus the engine, of course (export value and spares for other Harrier’s). He has one, Midland Air Museum, Norfolk and Suffolk, and also Newark museums also have one, possibly some more as well

I am glad his enthusiasm has been rewarded – OK the Vulcan was a step too far but at least he has saved 1 airframe (and got some positive publicity!)

If he wants it looking after, i’m sure theres a local atc unit (or sea scouts I know it’s Navy!!!) that would pitch up. Theres also a wealth of enthusiasts who could be of help in the area too.
I’m still hoping someone buys that DERA Jetstream!!!! 🙂
